What's New in Reactor 3?

Reactor 3 is the coolest version of Reactor yet introducing both new BlackBox controls and more importantly a new architecture for building BlackBoxes so that you can add new controls without having to get a new version of Reactor. Oh, and let's not forget there is now a free version of Reactor so you can try it out in real solutions at no cost.

BlackBox Plugins

The biggest news is that Reactor 3 can be extended by adding BlackBox plugins at any time - even while your solution is running! A BlackBox plugin is a single file that you simply store in a container field in your solution, then to enable it call the BlackBoxAdd() function and you'll instantly have a new function available. Put that function into a web viewer and you've got your new control up and running.

New BlackBox Controls

When you purchase Reactor 3 you'll receive our new Extended BlackBox Suite including 3 new Calendars, Tagger, Sortable, Drag'n Drop and Gantt Chart Pro.

    CalPack

    The CalPack consists of 3 super cool Calendar controls for handling a wide variety of calendaring and booking situations with literally hundreds of configurable options, yet quick and easy to set up. Here's what we've got for you:

    DayCal: Like CalLite this is a fully drag-and-drop supporting Calendar that shows appointments through-out the day and can be configured to show 1 day or a whole week on screen, with smooth scrolling up/down time and left/right through the days. DayCal is much more powerful though supporting these additional features:

    • Colors may be associated with appointments.
    • Positioning and duration of appointments is down to single minutes, rather than 15 minute intervals.
    • A script or command may be specified to run on selection of a day, as well as of an appointment.
    • Appointments may extend over more than one day.
    • Appointments may overlap one another.
    • Appointment title bar text is customisable

    Reactor Lite

      We wanted to make Reactor even more accessible to all developers so we've made a Lite version which is completely FREE and includes most of the ready-made BlackBox controls from version 2, i.e.:

      • OS-native Buttons
      • OS-native Popup menus
      • LiveField
      • Slider
      • DayCal Lite
      • ImageFlow

      Reactor Lite doesn't include the capability to add BlackBox controls or provide ad-hoc content such as PDFs, Flash or your own HTML files.

      Reactor Lite is free, but requires registration for your own use. Plus, you can distribute it with your solutions by registering it for deployment too!

      BlackBox Builder

      For developers who know HTML and JavaScript you can now get your hands dirty with our BlackBox Builder, a tool for creating your distributable BlackBox plugins for Reactor.

      The BlackBox Builder collates all the resources you need in your BlackBox including HTML, JavaScript, Flash/Flex files, images and CSS stylesheets into a single encrypted .rbb (Reactor BlackBox) file that you then deploy as a BlackBox plugin in your solutions or distribute to others. BlackBox Builder lets you define the function name, parameters, options and fully supports language localisations.

      BlackBox Builder comes with the Developer, Product and Enterprise Packs.
